Police raiding property near Elizabeth station following bomb discovery

A police operation is underway at a property near the New Jersey station where several bombs were discovered.

Local site PIX11News reports that the raid in Elizabeth has been confirmed by the town's mayor.

It is reported that the raid is being carried out by agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, commonly known as the ATF.

The raid comes after five explosive devices were found in a backpack at the station. One of the devices exploded when it was detonated by a robot.

There is as yet no confirmation that the raid is connected with the discovery of the devices.

America is on high alert after a bomb went off in Chelsea, Manhattan over the weekend, injuring 29 people.
