Police release footage of 'cycle rage' attack in Hackney

The incident took place on City Road at around 3am

Officers from Hackney have released CCTV footage of a 'cycle rage' attack in Hackney for help in identifying the suspect.

On Sunday August 13 at around 3.00am the three victims were walking along City Road following a night out when they were approached by a man riding a bicycle on the pavement.

The footage shows the man collide with them and comeoff of his bike. He can then be seen approaching the victims and remonstrating with them before launching an unprovoked attack, punching one 24-year-old man to the ground.

A 31-year-old woman was punched in the face and suffered a broken nose in the attack. The 24-year-old man was left unconscious.

The suspect then went to retrieve his bicycle and fled the scene in the direction of Islington.

He is described as a black man, aged in his 20s. He was wearing a dark polo shirt and black trousers. He also had a distinctive large beard

PC Matt Jolley, of Hackney police, who are investigating the incident, said: “This was a callous and needless assault. Anyone with information is asked to contact Hackney police via 101, or provide information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or crimestoppers-uk.org.”
