Last night Mike Parry reflected on where he was on the day Princess Diana died, 19 years ago yesterday.
At the time, he was running the Press Association, a news agency company providing the latest news for the UK.
He had been at home watching television, and received a call about the news, rushing into the office. His defence correspondent had gone on tour to Malaysia with the foreign secretary, who he knew would be informed of her death.
Luckily it was the first time the correspondent had ever taken a mobile phone with him, and Parry contacted him so that he would keep on top of the news.
