Richard Ratcliffe on his Wife's plight in Iran and Boris Johnson's comments

The husband of the woman imprisoned in Iran spoke to Paul Ross and Carole Malone

Friday, November 10, 2017

Richard Ratcliffe has spoken candidly about his wife's plight in a live interview on talkRADIO.

His wife Nazanin has been imprisoned in Iran since April 2016, accused of spreading propaganda against the Iranian regime.

Earlier this week, it was reported Boris Johnson had said at a committee meeting that she had been training journalists at the time of her arrest. This was furiously refuted by her employer and her family.

Richard has been unable to physically see his wife because he has been denied a visa to go to the country, and has not seen his daughter for over a year.

He spoke about the Foreign Secretary's blunder.

He told Paul Ross and Carole Malone: "His words were clearly wrong and have been taken and used by the Iranian authorities.

"It would be unfair to say it's all his fault, but clearly there was an Iranian agenda there. They have used it and built the case to put the blame on him.

"The words were latched upon and used."
