Security Services working for the Russian government have reportedly beaten and humiliated a Ukrainian student at Moscow State University for waving his country's flag outside the window of his room.

The incident is reported to have taken place on March 18. The student waved a homemade version of the country's flag during a rally celebrating the annexation of Crimea, which was happening outside his dormitory.

Authorities from the university police arrived soon afterwards, confiscated his belongings, and took him away with three plain-clothed members of the FSB.

Once he was left alone with the FSB officers, they allegedly began to aggressively interrogate him, hitting him and forcing him to sign a confession.

The student received treatment for his injuries on Monday, and then is said to have appealed to the Commitee for the Prevention of Torture on Tuesday.
