Sadiq Khan has been told to “concentrate on the day job” by the Conservative leader in the London Assembly.
Susan Hall criticised the London Mayor over his coronavirus policies on protective equipment and transport in the capital.
She told talkRADIO’s Mike Graham: “He’s calling for the public to wear masks. If he thinks that they’re so great and they’re the answer to everything why on earth isn’t he supplying them to his staff in TfL (Transport for London)?”
Mr Khan has strongly urged the government to encourage the public to wear non-medical masks to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said her devolved government was now recommending wearing face masks in public in “limited circumstances”, including in shops and on public transport.
Mr Khan tweeted: “From everything I’ve been told by experts here and across the world, this is the right advice. The UK Government should urgently follow suit.”
Ms Hall also hit out at Mr Khan for reducing London Underground services during the pandemic.
“As for the lack of trains it's quite frankly a disgrace because people are crammed on them. It's about time he got his act together and sorted out the transport in London.”
The Mayor has maintained that he cannot increase the Tube services due to the number of TfL staff who are off sick or self-isolating.
