The mother of Sally Anne Bowman has revealed her ashes have been exhumed after her grave was repeatedly vandalised.

The 18-year-old was raped and stabbed to death by Mark Dixie outside her home in Croydon in 2005.

Dixie was jailed for life with a minimum of 34 years in 2008 for the crime.

Now, in an interview with The Daily Mirror, Bowman’s mother Linda told of how she was forced to guard her grave after it began to attract “fruit loops” who would desecrate it at night.

Bowman said the headstone had been smashed, unnerving cards had been left, and it had been covered at times with dirt and dead flowers.

She blasted the “cruel people” who would get “a kick” out of doing such things.
