Political PR expert Jo Tanner has told talkRADIO that the press officer who advised Sarah Olney on her interview with Julia Hartley-Brewer could well be receiving a P45.
Olney suffered a gruelling interview with Julia before her press officer intervened to cut the call short after just three minutes, telling our listeners that the newly elected Richmond Park MP had another interview to fulfil.
This prompted a scornful response from Julia, who said a much longer slot had been booked and suggested Olney might struggle as an MP if she can't handle awkward questions from journalists.
Tanner, speaking on our panel show in the aftermath of the interview, told us that "there might be a second P45 required today. Whoever was doing that advise ought to be looking for a new job. I've never, ever heard anything like that.
"When you get into a sticky spot, particularly with radio, the easiest thing is for the line to go dead... the idea that Sarah's gone on to do another interview, flippin' heck. What have we elected there?"
