Sean Spicer finally got his chance to meet the Pope after being cut from a White House delegation earlier this year.
The former White House press secretary had been lined up to meet the head of the Catholic Church in May when Donald Trump was scheduled to visit Rome.
However, when the Vatican asked the White House to cut numbers from its delegation, Spicer was dropped from the roster.
Spicer, a devout Catholic, was afforded his chance over the weekend, with L'Osservatore Romano, a local media outlet, publishing photos of the encounter online.
Spicer resigned from his position in the Trump administration after Anthony Scaramucci was brought in as head of communications in the White House.
However he has remained in the role to oversee the transition of the job to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, with his last day expected to be August 31.
