The man whose article on political correctness went viral earlier today has spoken to Sam Delaney about the problems of being a "pale, stale male" in the 21st century.

The article by Simon Jenkins suggested that the only figure who can still be derided or abused in today's politically correct society is the straight, white, middle-aged man - and Jenkins reiterated this point when speaking to talkRADIO.

Jenkins said his situation was akin to that of a "black person 20 or 30 years ago", adding that today's interpretation of political correctness is riddled with hypocrisy.

Referring to a recent description of the Football Association as "hideously white," Jenkins said: “I’ve got to be careful what I say, but take sports like boxing or sprinting which are dominated by black people - we wouldn’t say hideously black."

He continued: “There’s no doubt at all [that] if you’re looking at being selected for engineers and important jobs and so on, the best thing you can be at the moment is a black woman."
