Snow joke – scientists stunned by 'Pyramids' discovered in Antarctica

'Pyramids' have been discovered in Antarctica

The antarctic discoveries resemble the ancient pyramids of Giza in Egypt

Scientists have been shocked by new images produced by Google Earth, which appear to show pyramids in Antarctica, according to The Daily Star.

Three apparent pyramids have been discovered, bearing a resemblance to the ancient pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

Two of the structures are roughly 10 miles inland, while the other is closer to the coast.

This discovery has prompted theories that these are man-made structures, meaning humans may have once lived in the region.

Some scientists have previously claimed the climate would have been much warmer thousands of years ago.

In 2009, pollen was discovered on the continent, and in 2012, 32 species of bacteria were found in east Antarctica, both suggesting the temperature would have been much higher in the past.

However, another theory for the pyramids' appearance is that it could be a natural phenomenon called nunatak, caused by mountain peaks appearing just above huge glaciers.
