Soho nightclub rapists jailed

The attackers were caught on CCTV

Two Italian men who filmed themselves raping a 23-year-old woman in a Soho nightclub have been jailed for seven-and-a-half years each.

Ferdinando Orlando, 25, and Lorenzo Costanzo, 26, attacked the victim in the maintenance room of the Toy Room club in central London in the early hours of February 26, 2017.

Police said CCTV showed the men high-fiving and hugging each other afterwards, while the woman lay on the floor of the club’s toilets in extreme pain.

They escaped justice for more than a year after returning to Italy, but were eventually arrested by police after Costanzo returned to the UK to watch a football match.

Judge Giles Curtis-Raleigh said the two men had committed “very serious offences” against a “vulnerable young woman”.

He said they exhibited “triumphalist behaviour” after the attack and the victim had since been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

In an impact statement the victim said he was left barely able to walk after the attack and is in “constant fear” when she goes out with friends.

“When I found out more than one man was involved I felt violently ill with the thought that two men did something this horrible ... to me,” she said.

“I truly struggle with how two humans could behave like such animals to another person and think of that as funny and like a badge of honour.”

A spokesman for the Toy Room said he was “appalled by the incident and the safety of guests was a “top priority”.
