The UK's first maternity clinic exclusively for women who have been raped or sexually assaulted has opened in London.

The clinic can call on extra antenatal support, specially trained midwives, psychologists and paediatricians.

It is co-run by Barts Health NHS Trust, in East London, and if successful the service could be introduced in other hospitals.

Pavan Amara, founder of the My Body Back project which helps those abused to access health care, told Yasmeen Khan why extra help is needed when women who have been sexually abused require medical attention.

"For the first time since the attack has happened, they lose control of their body again," she said.

"When women are giving birth, when they are pregnant, they [can] feel the [abuse is] going on [again]."
