A visit made by MPs to the Sports Direct warehouse was "very stage managed" and all the trust built up during the visit has been undone, according to MP Craig Tracey.
On Monday MPs from the Business and Skills Committee made a surprise visit to the Sports Direct warehouse to inspect the country's working practices, However they claim there was an attempt to record their private discussions after their tour.
MP Craig Tracey, who was part of the inspection group, told Julia Hartley-Brewer that "even though [the visit] was a short time, it was very stage managed."
It is alleged that a member of the Sports Direct staff left a recording device in a meeting room as the MPs were eating sandwiches, although Sports Direct denies the claim.
Tracey said that, in light of the alleged planting, "any confidence or trust that had been built up in the visit was completely undone by that absurd gesture," even though MPs had originally "wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right."
