Lionel Messi's star-studded list of wedding guests have been ridiculed in Argentina for making a "miserable" donation to the Barcelona striker's charity.
Messi wed Antonela Roccuzzo on June 30 in the star's hometown of Rosario, with 260 guests in attendance including Cesc Fabregas, Gerard Pique and Neymar - the player who moved to Paris Saint-Germain for £200 million last week.
Instead of wedding presents, the bride and groom had asked their 260 guests to donate to Fundacion Techo Argentina, an ONG which builds houses for the country's poorest people.
However the guests' donations amounted to only around 200,000 Argentine pesos, or £8,700 - equating to around £34 a head.
Argentine newspaper Clarin, one of the most popular titles in Latin America, described the donation as "a miserable wedding present", and claims that Pique, who attended the wedding with his wife Shakira, later spent around £11,500 in a casino reserved for wedding guests - although this has not been substantiated.
The charity claims that the money donated thus far will allow its engineers to construct only 10 emergency properties. However it says "the donation channels remain open."
