Stillborn baby Logan Gomes formally named as youngest Grenfell Tower victim

Thursday, September 21, 2017

A stillborn baby delivered hours after the Grenfell Tower fire has been named as the youngest victim of the tragedy.

Police have confirmed that Logan Gomes has been formally added to the list of casualties, which now stands at 66.

Logan's parents, Marcio and Andreia Gomes, were able to escape from the 21st floor of the tower after it erupted in flames on June 14.

Forced to climb down pitch-black stairs, they and their two young daughters somehow emerged alive.

However Logan was delivered stillborn just a few hours after the family escaped, while his mother lay in an induced coma.

According to the Telegraph, the poisonous fumes enhaled by Andreia Gomes were directly responsible for her baby's death.

Of the 66 victims identified thus far, the names of 33 have been withheld at the request of their families.

The families of all 66 victims, including baby Logan, have been informed, and are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
