Swiss tourists suffer injuries after attack by gang near to the Taj Mahal

Quentin Jeremy Clerc and Marie Droz were attacked after reportedly being harassed by the men for an hour

Two Swiss Tourists in India suffered injuries after being attacked near to the Taj Mahal. 

Quentin Jeremy Clerc and Marie Droz had been on holiday in the city of Agra in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. 

According to an interview the former did with The Times Of India, they came under attack by a group of men, who originally began taking pictures of them. 

After reportedly forcing Droz to take selfies with them, they are believed to have followed the pair for an hour before attacking the two backpackers with sticks. 

Local media has reported Clerc sustained a fractured skull while Droz received fracture injuries on her hand in the incident. 

They were taken to hospital in Dehli, and the police superintendent in Agra, Amit Pathak, said they had idenitified the suspected attackers. 

The government in Utter Pradesh has been urged to submit a report on the incident by India's Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj.
