A teacher has been suspended in Florida after allegations that she presents a white supremacist podcast.

Dayanna Voltich works at Crystal River Middle School as a social studies teacher, but it is claimed she's also the presenter of the Unapologetic Podcast under a different name.

The allegations about the podcast were first reported by The Huffington Post, which alleged one of the episodes featured a discussion on white nationalists gaining access to schools.

It is claimed the woman, allegedly known on the podcast as Tiana Dalichov, said communists always knew children were important and they "wanted the minds of the children. That's the future.

"So, if we can have more teachers in those positions, that would be great, and I do hear from teachers all the time [who support us]."

It is claimed that 'Dalichov' had her own Twitter account, and it carried Voltich's picture. However the account has now been deleted.

Previous tweets from the account reportedly included comments such as “it isn’t supremacist or hateful to prefer your own people over others," according to the Miami Herald

Yesterday (March 4) Sandra Himmel, the superintendent of Citrus County School District, said in a post on Facebook that an investigation against the 25-year-old started as soon as the district was informed of the allegations.

The post said: "The teacher has been removed from the classroom and the investigation is ongoing.

"Pursuant to Florida Statute an open investigation and materials related to it are exempt from public record and cannot be discussed until the investigation is complete."
