A teenager committed suicide after accidentally  sending a Snapchat to her boyfriend which revealed she had cheated on him.

Charlotte Guy's boyfriend, Jack Hurst, has said she revealed her intention to break up with him just days before she killed herself.

He claims the 17-year-old, from Wigan, said it was because she did not trust him and then tried to speak to him on the phone, but he said he was too busy to talk.

The girl then sent a Snapchat, which Hurst received, however she was supposed to send it to her friend instead.

Hurst said the image "referenced her sleeping with someone on the Saturday night" and she then said "it wasn’t for me," also apologising and saying she is a "horrible person."

He continued: "She said that she wanted to talk and explain but I said that I didn’t feel like talking and to message me to say what she wanted to say."

After this he received another message from his girlfriend which said: “Goodbye. Please forgive me. I love you – knowing that you hate me is enough.”

Hurst then tried to call Guy, however she did not answer the phone and he contacted the police. However when officers arrived they discovered the teenager had already died.

Her parents have said she had already been referred to a professional over self-harming.

Coroner Alan Walsh found at the time of her death she had both cocaine and alcohol in her system and believes the drug was used in "the chaotic last 48 hours of her life.”

Walsh also said he thinks it is a combination of the substances and stress of the relationship and education which ultimately convinced her to commit suicide.
