A teenager is in a serious condition in hospital after being run over by a carnival float in Italy.
The incident took place at a local parade on Sunday (March 26) in Giaveno, northern Italy, according to The Local.
After she was hit other carnival-goers assisted her at the scene, before the emergency services arrived and she was airlifted to hospital.
The 19-year-old suffered trauma to the spine, a haemorrhage and suspected bone marrow injuries.
Later on Sunday police said she had undergone a successful operation, but was still in a serious condition.
It is not yet clear whether the teenager had fallen from a float or was watching the parade when she was hit.
Some witnesses claimed they saw the teenager sitting on top of speakers which were on a float.
Police have questioned the driver of the float, which was one of the last in the parade.
The theme of the float was Italy's banking crisis and it has been taken by police in order to continue the investigation.
