Theresa May has sent Twitter into a predictable tailspin with her announcement of a Parliamentary vote on a general election.

The Prime Minister announced she would petition the House of Commons to overturn the Fixed-Term Parliament act.

The Twitterati appear fiercely divided in light of the announcement. Some believe Ms May's announcement was cold and cynical although others praised the Prime Minister for her "ruthless" decision.

Others, however, focused on Mr Corbyn, with a plethora of memes and gifs depicting confusion and panic in the Labour Party.
