Theresa May is to meet two of the EU's top Brexit negotiators in London on Wednesday (April 26), just over a week after a calling a snap election.
European Commission president Jean Claude-Juncker and designated negotiator Michel Barnier will travel to meet Ms May, a spokeswoman has confirmed. They will travel on the invitation of Ms May and her government.
An EU official cited by Politico said Ms May and Mr Juncker “want to discuss the process of the Article 50 negotiations” and suggested Ms May had extended the invitation several weeks ago.
The meeting will take place just three days before a key EU meeting to discuss the bloc's strategy for the upcoming Brexit negotiations.
At the meeting, leaders of the 27 remaining EU member states are expected to agree a roadmap for the negotiations, which will take place over the next two years.
