Three men who were kicked out of a bar in an Arkansas nature decided to protest by stealing an alligator.

The drunk men broke into the Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center on Wednesday night (May 3), UPI reported.

In order to gain access to the centre, they used a concrete block and went on to destroy aquariums, educational displays and other objects.

The men then stole an alligator as well as a replica rattlesnake and a shotgun.

The director of the centre Neil Curry said: "I think there was enough alcohol involved that there wasn't much of a plan in their brain."

Eventually all three men were arrested and have since been charged with theft of property, commercial burglary and felony criminal mischief. Officers also discovered the gator - in a rather unusual place.

Little Rock Police Deparment said in a Facebook post: "We believed the alligator was set free and most likely in the Arkansas River, however to the surprise of the [crime scene search unit], it was located under the seat of the suspect vehicle. Definitely not something we see everyday."
