The Conservatives are "running scared" of Jeremy Corbyn, according to the blogger behind the hugely influential Guido Fawkes website.
Paul Staines also said there was no chance of Theresa May surviving as leader until 2022, despite her earlier bullish claims that she intends to stay on and fight the next election.
Speaking to Julia Hartley-Brewer, Staines said the Tories "haven't figured out how to deal with the Corbyn menace. They are genuinely scared there could be a Corbyn-led menace and they think the youth vote won't disappear."
When asked whether May can survive until 2022, Staines said "in a word, no", adding that it would be too great a risk as May showed herself to be robotic and bereft of empathy in the last election campaign.
The blogger, whose site is among the most popular in Westminster, suggested May will oversee Brexit until mid-2019 and will then step aside. Potential successors including Boris Johnson and David Davis would be reluctant to take over in the current climate.
Although many have tipped Jacob Rees-Mogg to take over, with some likening him to Corbyn, Staines said the Old Etonian was "a bit of a joke candidate".
However he wouldn't rule out Boris Johnson, as he only needs the support of 50% of the MPs and "the members love him when he gets going."
