Nigel Evans has suggested putting Prince Harry and Meghan "in charge of Brexit", as pressure mounts on the Prime Minister to name her resignation date.
The 1922 Committee secretary joked that the royal couple had "delivered the royal baby on time", and could now turn their attention to Britain's exit from the European Union.
"I think we should put Harry and Meghan in charge of Brexit because they delivered the royal baby on time, and maybe they could now deliver Brexit for us and we can get on with our lives," he told talkRADIO's Julia Hartley-Brewer.
The Conservative MP appeared on the breakfast show to discuss a meeting taking place today between Theresa May and 1922 Committee's chair, Sir Graham Brady.
It follows a request from the Committee for "clarity" on when she plans to leave.
"They do meet on a regular basis, but it's the topic of conversation that is somewhat different this time," Mr Evans added.
