Donald Trump's military ban has been ridiculed by a transgender British broadcaster, who told talkRADIO "the world is laughing at him."
Broadcaster Stephanie Hirst, who transitioned from male to female, believes Trump's transgender announcement is a "smokescreen for things that are going on" within his administration.
"I think it’s really disappointing, it's like we take a hundred steps forward and a thousand steps back with this man.
"But the thing is, what he doesn’t realise is that the world is laughing at him."
She also thinks "it’s very typical of anyone who’s suffering with gender dysphoria to kind of bury it really. Many people will join the army because they’ll go for something which is so super-masculine."
Hirst also spoke about her own journey transitioning from male to female, and explained that she used to "think about it before you go to sleep at night and then you wake up and you think about it.
"You grow into being a woman. My gender is female. Yes I didn’t come out of the womb with all the right bits and pieces but I corrected that."
