'He can now work on masterpieces like Rush Hour Crush' - Twitter reacts to George Osborne's new job as London Evening Standard editor

Twitter has reacted with a mix of rage, contempt and incredulity to news that George Osborne has been named the new editor of the London Evening Standard.

The former Chancellor of the Exchequer, who already earns large sums of money for giving speeches, will serve as the figurehead for one of London's most prominent newspapers in Northcliffe House.

He will perform this job alongside his role as an MP for Tatton.

The news has sent waves across social media, but it's not entirely favourable towards the former chancellor. Many believe Osborne should step aside as an MP, as he cannot continue to serve his constituents in Greater Manchester while holding down a demanding job 200 miles away.

Others just thought the news was funny.
