Twitter outraged at Sir Rod Stewart over 'Isis-style beheading' video

The singer's landed in a bit of hot water over a video posted to Instagram

A video made by Sir Rod Stewart appears to have landed the veteran singer in rather hot water.

Stewart's wife, Penny Lancaster, posted a video on her Instagram account, now removed, of the singer larking about in the desert near Abu Dhabi.

In the video Stewart appears to be simulating an execution which some have likened to the gruesome rituals carried out by Islamic State.

The 72-year-old icon released a statement to explain and apologise, saying: "From re-enacting the Beatles' Abbey Road crossing to spontaneously playing out Game of Thrones, we were simply larking about pre-show.

"Understandably, this has been misinterpreted and I send my deepest apologies to those who have been offended."

But Twitter still isn't happy with him. See below:
