Twitter is ruthlessly blasting Sean Spicer for his comments about Adolf Hitler in a White House press briefing on Tuesday.

The White House Press Secretary has apologised for his comments about the Nazi leader when describing President Bashar al-Assad's conduct.

Spicer commented "even someone as despicable as Hitler" didn't sink so low as using chemical weapons on his own people. He also referred to concentration camps as "Holocaust centres".

Since then, he has been riding out a backlash on Twitter as the remarks were widely condemned.
