People travelling to the UK from certain countries are to be banned from carrying electronic devices on flights.

It is reported that the ban will affect flights from six countries: Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. All six countries have majority-Muslim populations.

The ban will affect tablets, DVD players and phones that exceed a certain size.

The news comes after the US announced a ban on passengers from 12 Muslim-majority countries carrying any electronic device larger than a mobile phone in the cabin.

The US ban does not affect American carriers but airlines from the Middle East and those based in Jordan and Saudi Arabia will be affected.
