A GP spoke to Julia about obesity

A leading GP has said there can't be "penalties" for people who are obese.

This follows Theresa May's Government announcing it is due to drop proposals to withdraw benefits from people who are on employment allowances because they are too overweight to work.

The plans were first circulated while David Cameron was Prime Minister.

Dr. Ellie Cannon backed this, because she said "we live in an obeseogenic society where the default is to be overweight, unless you're conscious of that and make an effort."

She insisted that "unless there are resources to help people, we can’t penalise people for being obese."
