A radio station in Arizona has come under fire for late-night broadcasts which gave tips on how to conceal child pornography.

A petition on Change.org has been issued by residents in the town of Benson to shut down Cave 97.7 FM after this emerged, with more than 1,200 people having signed.

The petition acccuses the station - which describes itself as "south-east Arizona's most powerful radio station" - of broadcasting a "sickening message" with a series of Public Service messages.

Paul Lotsof, who owns the station, has defended the measure, saying he was doing a public service before it was taken off-air.

He has publicly stated he disagrees with the state's laws on child pornography, saying possession of it should not be a crime as there is a distinction between holding pictures and committing sexual acts.
