Hollywood just could not stay away from talkRADIO on Wednesday. Hot on the heels of Salma Hayek's chat with Paul Ross in the morning, Marvel Deadpool actor Ed Skrein was a guest on Jake Yapp's show in the afternoon.

The British star plays Francis Freeman / Ajax in the film, who tortures Wade Wilson / Deadpool and leaves him disfigured and thirsty for revenge. Skrein told listeners about his experience of playing such a dark character in the action-comedy.

"It was so much fun," he told Jake. "My life is so normal and so peaceful, nice and civilised most of the time. So it was nice to explore the dark sides of human psychology, to torture, to fight."

The 33-year-old actor praised co-star Ryan Reynolds, who plays the movie's titular character.

"[Ryan's] a funny, charming, generous lovely guy," Skrein said. "He's a true gentleman, generous with his energy."

Skrein has also appeared as Daario Naharis in the hugely popular Game Of Thrones and Frank Martin in The Transporter: Refueled, in recent years. He revealed how his relatively late success allows him to stay grounded in Hollywood.

"It's been a long journey," he said. "[Acting success] was late in my life. we shot Ill Manners, which was my first movie, [when I was] 27.

"It was perfect in the sense that I'd had enough time to exorcise my demons and ego.

"I can step into this now and see it for what it really is, rather than the jazz and glitter. [I can] navigate the blessings and the curses."
