Hollyoaks actor Nick Pickard popped into the studio for a cozy chat with Paul Ross ahead of this weekend's British Soap Awards, and revealed that he cannot bring himself to watch rival show EastEnders.
The actor, who has played Tony Hutchinson since the show's very first episode in 1995, told Paul: "Once you're in one [a soap] - and you've been in one as long as I have - you just turn off.
"I used to be a massive EastEnders fan before I went into Hollyoaks. Now I can't watch it."
Happily, Nick's dislike of soaps does not extend to his own show.
"I've loved it since day one," he said. "The audition was a long process. When you get close and can almost taste the job, you really want it.
"Luckily, I got back the final time and my agent said I'd got it." Twenty-one years later he is still there.
The British Soap Awards take place on Saturday (28 May) and will be screened on ITV on Sunday evening (8-10pm).
