Theresa May has levelled allegations at Russia of trying to disrupt international order by “meddling” in elections and disseminating fake news to create discord.
The comments by Mrs May came at the Lord Mayor’s Banquet at the Guildhall in the City of London.
In an unprecedented move, the Prime Minister told Vladimir Putin the nations of the west “know what you’re doing” and said he would not be successful.
She accused the country of frequent violations of European airspace as well as a sustained campaign of “cyber espionage.”
The Prime Minister claimed the country sought to “weaponise information” in an attempt to create discord in the West.
She made it clear why the country would not succeed in its reported endeavour, because it “underestimated the resilience” of democracy, as well as that of free and open societies.
