We must ensure that we have the option to reverse the triggering of Article 50 in case evidence shows that Brexit will be bad for the UK, says a lawyer.
Jo Maugham QC initiated crowdfunding for a court case which he says will begin in Dublin's High Court on Friday. It will determine whether the process of triggering Article 50 is reversible or not.
Tax lawyer Maugham told Paul Ross: “If I was sitting in Westminster I would trigger Article 50, even though I think it is the wrong thing to do.
"The case that I’m bringing in Ireland does not make a case for us to remain," he explained. "You want to make that decision as late as possible with as full a picture of the evidence as you can possibly have.
“Having the option of reversing if the evidence shows that [Brexit] is a bad thing must be in the interests in the country."
