Carwyn Jones has called upon the UK Government to get Brexit negotiations back on track.
The Welsh First Minister made the call in a keynote address at the Welsh Senedd today (Tuesday).
In his address, Jones stressed the lasting damage which will be inflicted on the security and wellbeing of the UK economy if Britain walks away from the Brexit talks.
He said the concept of not having a deal with the European Union is “unthinkable” and the focus should be on preventing this outcome.
His comments come after Theresa May’s statement to the House of Commons, in which she admitted that a no-deal scenario remained an option because the Government was preparing for every possibility.
A Government spokesman insisted it was committed to securing a deal which worked for all of the devolved nations of the UK, including Wales, and would continue to engage with them while remaining confident in the chances of obtaining a deal from the EU.
