talkRADIO presenter Yasmeen Khan has revealed that she always hopes the perpetrator of terror attacks is not a Muslim in a passionate monologue about this week's atrocities in Westminster.
Khan, a British Asian who has been honoured by the Asian Media Awards for her broadcasting, spoke about her feelings after a man attacked Westminster on Wednesday, killing four people. The attacker was subsequently named as Muslim convert Khalid Masood.
The talkRADIO presenter said: “I watched [the terror attack unfold] not just as a broadcaster, but also with a real sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.
“I firstly hope that no one is hurt, secondly I hope that whatever this is, please let the perpetrator not have a Muslim name.
“Whilst it might be impossible to stop every sort of terror attack, maybe we can look at the role different communities can play, and how they can come together."
