A woman has been cleared in court after stabbing her neighbour’s dog to death because it attacked her cat.
The court in France ruled that she was acting in self-defence, according to The Local.
The incident happened on Boxing Day last year (December 26) when the woman heard a bang against her window at home.
It was then that the 33-year-old discovered the dog from her neighbour's house had escaped and was holding her cat in its mouth by its head.
To try and rescue her cat she threw things such as a broom and basket towards it, and then hit it using a chair.
Growing more worried the woman then took out a knife and stabbed the dog who then let go of the cat, however the cat could still not be saved. The dog died of its wounds.
The woman had been charged with violence but was cleared at the police court in Montpellier. It also ruled that the dog was a danger to her two children.
