A woman who filmed a child dancing in her car whilst driving has been banned from the road.

Thirty-five-year-old Kerry White uploaded the footage of the child in the passenger seat to her Facebook page.

The video - captioned ‘He got the moves’ - was reported to the police, who located the vehicle and recovered the original video from White's phone.

White, from Scarborough, admitted driving dangerously and has been banned from driving for 12 months.

She was also handed a six-month sentence, suspended for 12 months at York Crown Court, and is expected to do 20 days unpaid work and pay a £115 victim surcharge.

In the video, the 90s song Everybody's Free by Rozalla can be heard in the background.

White can be heard singing and laughing, while the boy kicks his legs.

Towards the end of the video, White can be heard saying "show us your moves" to the boy.

Police said the video was filmed as White drove in Scarborough, on 16 December 2017.

Mark Patterson, from North Yorkshire Police said White’s driving was “highly irresponsible and incredibly dangerous”.

“Her blatant disregard for the safety of the child and traffic laws could have ended tragically and the consequences of her actions had she of lost control of her vehicle doesn’t bear thinking about."

He added that it was “only through sheer luck she wasn’t involved in a serious collision”.

“I’d like to thank the member of the public who reported this incident to us and I hope this message sends a clear message that this type of reckless behaviour will not be tolerated on our roads.”
