A judge has ruled that a mother who killed two of her children in an 'exorcism killing' is not criminally responsible, and has sent the woman to a psychiatric hospital.

The Maryland woman also injured two of her other children during what she believed was an exorcism in 2014.

Zakieya Avery had pled guilty to two counts of first-degree murder, and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, on Monday.

Her roommate Monifa Sandford also took part in the killings and was also committed to a psychiatric hospital.

Sandford claimed she and Avery stabbed the children as they thought they were possessed by demons.
