Twitter users have paid tribute to Princess Diana on the 20-year anniversary of her death.

The Princess of Wales died following a car accident in Paris, and her passing provoked a national outpouring of grief.

Survived by her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, it would appear the memory of the Princess has never been too far away from public memory.

Fans of Diana have been gathering outside Kensington Palace, her former residence, to mark her death, with the two princes having visited the flowers and messages left by the gates.

#Diana20 has been trending on Twitter, with users paying loving tribute to 'the People's Princess.'
