Zac Goldsmith is aiming to stand again

Zac Goldsmith is looking for a rematch against Sarah Olney in Richmond Park, just six months after she beat him in a high-profile by-election.

That's according to the Evening Standard, which claims Goldsmith, who resigned the Richmond Park seat late last year in protest at the decision to build a new runway at Heathrow, is ready for a return to the political fray.

Goldsmith had represented Richmond Park for the Tories, but stood as an independent in December's by-election, when he was sensationally beaten by Olney.

It is not yet clear whether Goldsmith would stand as an independent, or once again seek to represent the Tories.

After her win, Olney joined Julia Hartley-Brewer on talKRADIO but the interview lasted for only three minutes as she was dragged off air by her press officer, after a brutal grilling from our presenter. You can listen to the interview here
