Julia Hartley-Brewer clashes with former Operation Trident chair Claudia Webbe over Mark Duggan

The shooting of Duggan is widely seen as the main trigger for the UK riots

Friday, August 5, 2016

It is five years since the death of Mark Duggan at the hands of police in Tottenham, north-west London, sparked a series of riots across England in the summer of 2011.

Anti-racism protests are taking part across the country to commemorate the event, with the Black Lives Matter group on Friday blocking off roads to key airports in a bid to cause a 'nationwide shutdown'.

talkRADIO presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer clashed with former Operation Trident chair Claudia Webbe over the concept of people wanting to mark the occasion.

Webbe argued that the media coverage of Duggan placed him in an unfair light, while Julia put forward his criminal convictions and the "fact he'd been picked up by police traveling in a car with a gun".
