If you’re one of the many Brits who think America should have picked Hillary Clinton to be president in 2016, you may be luck. Rumors are swirling that she may be on her way back to the campaign trail.
“Not zero” - that’s how longtime Hillary Clinton adviser Phillip Reines describes the odds that Hillary will run for president once again in 2020. And he’s annoyed that more people aren’t open to the idea.
"It’s curious why Hillary Clinton’s name isn’t in the mix - either conversationally or in formal polling - as a 2020 candidate," Reines told Politico on Friday. "She’s younger than Donald Trump by a year. She’s younger than Joe Biden by four years. Is it that she’s run before? This would be Bernie Sanders’ second time, and Biden’s third time. Is it lack of support? She had 65 million people vote for her."
So the chance of a Clinton-Trump re-match are “somewhere between highly unlikely and zero," Reines said.
'Worst candidate in history'
There are many answers to the question we discuss nearly every Saturday night on the “Right Side Of The Pond” (10pm-1am) - “how did you get Trump?”
Lingering anger from blue-collar families who felt left behind by the elite; coastal progressives; concerns from people of faith that their fundamental rights were under assault from Washington DC, etc. But the most obvious answer is: Hillary Clinton.

To use a boxing reference, she is, pound-for-pound, the worst national political candidate in American history.
Hillary and Bill Clinton were the embodiment of the Democratic Party from 1992 until 2008. The first time she ran, her opponent was an unknown, first-term U.S. Senator with no experience or qualifications…named Barack Obama.
Just seven years after 9/11. To say Sen. Obama faced some challenges against the best-known Democrat in America is putting the matter too lightly.
And what happened? Hillary lost.
Eight years later, she ran against a person the media, Democrats and academics all agreed was the worst person to run for President - EVER.
And what happened? Hillary lost.
'Democrats are done with her'
And now she’s thinking about running again? About putting that mega-millions fundraising machine to work sucking up every Democratic dollar so she can get a re-match? No wonder Democrats are annoyed.
As the headline reads at The Daily Beast: “Dear God, Hillary, Please. Just Go.”
Oh, she’s going. On a national arena tour with Bill for a series of “conversations” about politics and life. Ticket prices are as high as $750 apiece.
Meanwhile, she’s out making comments that are completely unhelpful to Democrats’ efforts to take back Congress in the November 6th midterm election. First she says that her husband’s sexual dalliances with an Oval Office intern was not a #MeToo moment because “she was an adult!”
Then she followed up her already disastrous 2016 comments about Trump supporters being “a basket of deplorables” by telling her fellow Democrats that “we can’t be civil” with Republicans.
Now do you understand why so many Democrats are done with her? And why Donald Trump can’t wait to run against her again?
In 2016, Hillary Clinton had the easiest job ever for a presidential candidate. She just had to be less awful than Donald Trump.
