Showbiz insider: 'Avengers: Endgame' and being a badass

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

talkRADIO's showbiz insider Josh Rom met the cast of Avengers: Endgame this week, and learned a few lessons along the way.

This week, I asked some of the cast of Avengers: Endgame about the most badass things they have discovered about themselves over the course of filming.

Chris Hemsworth told me it was all about "meeting the fans" for him, Scarlett Johansson said it was how she was "able to grow" with her character Black Widow, and Paul Rudd joked about "how much salmon" he could now eat.

But what other badass things happened in showbiz this week?

Well, it turns out Pete Doherty is a hero. Those are words I never thought I would write.

The Libertines frontman was hospitalised this week after piercing his hand on a hedgehog, which he was attempting to save from his dog. If anybody this week has proven that no good deed goes unpunished, it's Pete.

This week the country has also been recovering from the release of Taylor Swift's new track, ME!.

The track was a real change of direction for Swift, who has opted to promote butterflies and pastel colours in the video, as opposed to snakes and bad reputations, which featured heavily in her last album.

What else is badass? Well, Avengers: Endgame has broken box office records - and in my opinion it absolutely deserved to. I have never seen a film before that had grown men bawling their eyes out.

What impressed me even more was the fact that Marvel has proven that female characters with depth actually matter.

When Scarlett Johansson told me about how she felt she had grown as a woman with her character, I thought it was just a constructed press line. But in a world full of muscle monsters and robotic iron armour, the women characters in this were badass to the full.
