The Saudi Crown Prince wants to win the shore up his power base and improve his international profile during his visit to the UK.
That's according to Julia Hartley-Brewer, who spoke to Economist journalist Roger McShane about Mohammed Bin Salman's much-criticised visit this morning.
McShane said the Saudi royal wants to flag the fact that there have been modernisations on the social side - albeit that these reforms seem fairly paltry to a Western audience.
He added that the British government "sees an opportunity here to attract Saudi investment", particularly a new sovereign wealth fund created by the Kingdom to diversify its economy.
